

As the second largest shopping centre in the UK, as you would expect there are numerous shopping malls and streets in the city centre whereby retail therapy can be obtained.
Spread over five floors and having over forty-five businesses ranging from shops, restaurants, cafes and even a nightclub. This stylish and upmarket mall is located on Buchanan Street in the city centre and stays open until midnight.
Located on the site of what was previously a railway station, this mall is located off a main shopping thoroughfare of Argyle Street. It was the first large-scale shopping centre in Glasgow and opened in 1989. It is notable for having the largest glass covered enclosed area in Europe and has over eighty stores.
This large out of town shopping centre is home to over 70 shops, mainly discount stores or generally less expensive stores such as Primark. It also has a multiplex cinema and a large supermarket.
Scotland’s first ever indoor shopping mall, this is also one of the oldest covered shopping arcades in Europe dating back to 1827. The arcade, which is centrally located off Argyle Street, specialises in jewellery, watches and diamonds and has over 30 merchants.
This huge shopping centre is centrally located off Buchanan Street and contains approximately ninety retailers, including some independent ones not found elsewhere. It opened in 1999 so is one the newest additions to Glasgow’s shopping centre reputation and has ten floors of car parking to cater for its customers.
This Bohemian shopping arcade is located in the cool West End of the city and contains more offbeat and unusual independent shops ranging from gift shops, antique and craft shops to designer boutiques and vintage record shops.
Another more offbeat shopping arcade, this one specialises in antiques including jewellery and memorabilia thereby providing a more unique shopping experience.
Situated in the Merchant city and previously a fruit market, this indoor square provides an all year outdoor feel with its courtyard containing several bistros and cafes. Its shops are more exclusive and the overall shopping experience is more relaxed.
This street has is a prime shopping thoroughfare and has a shopping centre of the same name that contains several high street shops including discount ones such as TK Maxx. There is also the Savoy shopping centre on it and this specialises in boutique style shops selling artwork, handmade jewellery, clothes and furniture.
This is one of Glasgow’s longest streets and is a principle shopping thoroughfare with good examples of Victorian shopping architecture such as Argyle Arcade. Numerous shops and shopping centres are on this street.
Another major shopping thoroughfare and very long street with a plethora of shops, Buchanan Galleries is also located at the end of it.
This weekend market has it’s roots at the turn of the twentieth century when a couple bought land in the East End of Glasgow with the purpose of renting out stationary barrows (Glaswegians pronounce as ‘barras’) to traders. There is an assorted range of goods available to buy although it has gained a somewhat distasteful reputation for the provision of counterfeit DVDs and CDs.
